BORN TO SING

Leah 2005.jpg

Click photo to view ‘Small Blessings', written with Meg Kanowski to the music of Helen Russell and recorded in 2000 by the Worldly Women project. Leah created a montage of family photographs to accompany the song for her Master of Music recital in 2015.

Leah was born with a soulful singing voice, and a heartfelt need to sing.

Leah's performance skills were forged in the exciting Brisbane fringe scene of the 1980s and her musicianship evolved through long collaborations with some of Australia’s finest musicians, including Helen Russell, Jamie Clark and Steve Russell.

Leah’s versatile sound has been applied to many styles including jazz, adult contemporary, country, gospel and folk music projects that also saw her develop as a lyricist. Her many cabaret performances in the song review series “Women in Voice” have been acclaimed.

Most recently Leah has been developing a program of modern classics across styles, refreshed by an ensemble of wonderful long-term collaborators - simple music played beautifully. See her next year at the Brisbane Jazz Club.
